Terms of Service
Effective: 2026-10-30
DRAFT — pending founder & legal review. Not yet legally binding.
Last updated 2026-10-30.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the rules for using Vittles (the "Service"), which is run by [PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: legal entity name] ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, opening a trip someone shared with you, or using the Service in any other way, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Vittles.
1. What Vittles is
Vittles helps groups plan the food and logistics for camping and other outdoor trips — so nobody drives three hours into the woods to find out the whole group packed nothing but tortillas. You can create trips, invite people, plan meals, build packing and shopping lists, and add recipes and trip documents. AI features can draft a meal plan for you or pull the details out of files you provide.
Vittles is in an invite-only early release. Features may change, be limited, or be removed as we build it.
Price. Vittles is free during the alpha. Any prices shown in the app or on our site are samples, not offers to sell. If we add paid features, we'll publish their terms, including refunds, before we sell anything.
2. Accounts and sign-in
- You sign in with a magic link that we email to you or, where it's available, with your Google account.
- Keep your email account, and any other sign-in method you link, secure. Sign-in works through your email, so anyone who can get into your inbox may be able to get into your Vittles account.
- The information you give us must be accurate, and you must be at least [PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: minimum age, e.g. 18] years old to create an account. Vittles isn't meant for children, and children may not create their own accounts. An adult can add children to a trip, as the Privacy Policy explains.
3. Trips, sharing, and guest access
- Trips are shared spaces. The people you invite can see the trip and, depending on their role, change it.
- Guest links: you can share a trip with a link that carries an access token. Anyone who has that link can view and edit the trip without an account. Treat it like a house key and share it only with people you trust. If a link gets out, revoke the invite, remove the guest from the trip, or delete the trip. A shared trip that already has plans in it may only be archived, not deleted, and an archived trip stays readable, so revoke the invite or remove the guest instead.
- You are responsible for the people you invite and for what they do with what you share with them.
4. Your content
- "Your content" means what you put into Vittles: recipes, trip details, notes, dietary information, and files you upload or import (for example, a PDF, Word document or spreadsheet we read to set up your trip).
- Your content stays yours. You give us permission to store, process and show it only as needed to run the Service for you and the people you share trips with. That includes sending relevant text to our AI providers, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- Only upload content you have the right to use and share, and you are responsible for its accuracy.
- If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Vittles without owing you anything.
5. AI suggestions, dietary flags and nutrition estimates
Vittles uses AI to make suggestions — for example, draft meal plans, recipe or trip details read from your files, and destination ideas.
AI-generated content is a suggestion, not professional advice. It can be wrong, incomplete, or a poor fit for your situation. It is not dietary, nutritional, medical, allergy, safety or any other kind of professional advice. If anyone in your group has a food allergy, an intolerance or a medical dietary need, don't rely on what the AI produces: check every ingredient, quantity and preparation step yourself. Decisions you make based on AI-generated content are your responsibility.
The same goes for every dietary and nutrition detail in Vittles, whatever produced it — our own rules and food tables, an imported file or web page, another person on your trip, or AI. That includes dietary flags and tags (such as "gluten-free" or "contains nuts"), allergen checks and conflict warnings, and nutrition, calorie and weight estimates. They are planning aids, not professional advice, and they can be wrong or missing. Don't rely on them for an allergy, an intolerance or a medical dietary need: check labels, ingredients and quantities yourself.
6. Outdoor trips and third-party information
Outdoor trips carry real risks. The destination ideas, place details, maps, directions, weather forecasts and campsite information in Vittles come from AI or from other providers, and they can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. A suggested spot might not exist, might be closed, might not allow camping, or might not be safe to reach. Before you go, check conditions, permits, rules and safety information with official sources. You are responsible for your own safety and your group's, and for the trips you plan.
Vittles also links to and shows information from other services, such as map, weather, place and reservation sites. We don't control them, and their own terms apply when you use them.
7. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- break the law with Vittles, or use it to store or share content that is illegal, infringes someone's rights, or causes harm;
- try to get into accounts, trips or data you aren't allowed to see — including by guessing or scraping guest links;
- probe, disrupt or overload the Service, or get around its security or usage limits;
- use Vittles to build a competing product, or resell it, without our permission;
- use the AI features to create illegal, deceptive or abusive content.
We may suspend or limit access to protect the Service or other people using it.
8. Our service
The Service — including its software, its design, and the Vittles name and logo — belongs to us and the people we license from. These Terms don't give you any right to use our name or branding.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
[PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: this section is a template and must be reviewed by legal counsel and adapted to the governing jurisdiction.]
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Service will always be available or free of errors, or that AI-generated or third-party content will be accurate or reliable.
10. Limitation of liability
[PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: this section is a template and must be reviewed by legal counsel and adapted to the governing jurisdiction. Cap amount and excluded damages are placeholders.]
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim about the Service will not exceed [PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: liability cap]. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Vittles at any time, and you can delete your account from your settings (the Privacy Policy explains what deletion does). We may suspend or close your access if you break these Terms, or to protect the Service or other people using it. Parts of these Terms that are meant to last — such as ownership, the disclaimer and the limits on liability — still apply afterwards.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app. If you keep using Vittles after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
[PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: governing-law jurisdiction and dispute-resolution / venue.]
These Terms are governed by the laws of [PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: governing-law jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms? Email [PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: contact email] or write to [PLACEHOLDER — founder to confirm: business mailing address].
